Chocolate Rain
Apparently there was a fire near Mexico City. The resulting ash mixed with the rain in San Antonio. This produced "mud rain" which covered everything in the city. You can see the results on my truck. More about it here: http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/weather/stories/MYSA031808.wxsevere.en.1309236.html

Dirty Car
Sandy got her car cleaned by football players trying to raise money. You can see the affects the "mud rain" had on her car and just how dirty it was in this picture.

I-10 and the Beltway 8 in Houston
Houston I-10 and Beltway 8 on October 16th, 2006 after heavy rains. This part of Houston *always* floods after a decent rain. Just something you learn to live with in Houston Texas.

Sunken Crane in Houston
This photo is of a sunken crane on Oct 16th 2006 in Houston Texas. I would have taken a picture of the front end loaders but they are COMPLETELY under water. If you must know, they are on the left. That road you see on the left? That is I-10 and it has about 10 feet to spare. Don't these things costs like 250k or more? Ooops. Be careful where you park! Update: This photo was featured on the Houston Metblogs here. thanks!

houston gets ready
From a recent trip downtown. As we all worry about Hurricane Dean it seemed an appropriate recent photo of our strengths and liabilities. Houston remains spooked from both the impact of Katrina and the mass panic of Rita. Neither went well for us. So here's hoping that Dean goes elsewhere and that this is a dry run for us to get our heads on straight for later in the season. Now go buy some gas, water, food and beer just in case. And perhaps a bottle of nice wine.

The construction crane at the new residential high rise at Discovery Green. I'll be keeping an eye on this one. It's only about 16 blocks away from me.
