The Storm Rolls in
This is an older photo that I just found on my camera. Watching storms roll in at our office is very interesting. This is one of the better examples. You can clearly see the storm line.

I-10 and the Beltway 8 in Houston
Houston I-10 and Beltway 8 on October 16th, 2006 after heavy rains. This part of Houston *always* floods after a decent rain. Just something you learn to live with in Houston Texas.

Sunken Crane in Houston
This photo is of a sunken crane on Oct 16th 2006 in Houston Texas. I would have taken a picture of the front end loaders but they are COMPLETELY under water. If you must know, they are on the left. That road you see on the left? That is I-10 and it has about 10 feet to spare. Don't these things costs like 250k or more? Ooops. Be careful where you park! Update: This photo was featured on the Houston Metblogs here. thanks!

Some Things Don't Need Bulk Sales
I always thought it was a myth that you could buy condoms at Costco/Sams Club, but lo and behold they DO! A 40 pack for 8 bucks. Wait, a 40 pack?!? Okay that is a big commitment don't you think? I would need to buy bulk bags of ice and a ton gatorade with that purchase. (Maybe that is the conspiracy!)

My Old Blazer
Imagine my surprise when I went to Petersburg, VA, to find this guy had exactly the same year (94), model (Trailblazer 4.3 lt), and paint scheme of my old Chevy Blazer from high school. Brought a tear to my eye.

Microsoft Windows 3.11 For Workgroups
Found this OS in my closet from years and years ago when we used to use this at the office. Windows For Workgroups 3.11 introduced "advanced" networking features.

RedHat 7.1
Found this OS, RedHat 7.1, in my closet from years and years ago. I used to use this extensively for work and school back in the day. I also have RedHat 5.0 and a RedHat 4 somewhere at home laying around, but 7.1 and 7.2 were leaps and bounds above those versions.

Lori Dies
Lori dies. I managed to find a replacement battery and it appeared I had her resurrected. It required quite a bit of doing, including some not too pleasant soldering action. She managed to regain life and work for another two and a half days. Something blew in the power supply unrelated to the battery replacement. This produced a sad puff of smoke. It turned out to be a part I could not replace. The final poof of smoke indicated the ghost in the shell was gone. She passed away for the last time, September 27th 2008. This is to you Lori, the best girlfriend I ever had.

Rackspace Mini Cooper
Rackspace gave this Mini Cooper away to a lucky person in a drawing. The contestants were those who refereed new employees. If I recall correctly, it says "I won this car for referring brilliant people for Rackspace!"

Ugly Mug Coffee
Noticed this at the supermarket. The expressions of the people on these bags are hilarious. Literally they are of "ugly mugs" and that "just got out the bed" look. This is some smart advertising!

Interesting Tool
I never knew this tool existed. It is designed to paint a perfect line with just a regular can of spray paint. I am intrigued by its simplicity.

My New Couch - Expensive!
I learned my lesson. Never ask a woman for her opinion about furniture, she ends out always picking the most expensive in the list of choices. This is what happened here. Gave a list of possible couches I was looking at to my mom for a second opinion and she picks this one. So did every other female I asked to pick from the list. *sigh* I do love this couch though, so I bought it anyway. You womens be killing me with your expensive taste!

My New 46 inch TV, Samsung LN46A650
So after 3 years of using a 14 inch TV, I pulled the trigger and bought a new TV. This is the new TV, the Samsung LN46A650. This is actually the second one I had delivered which replaced the one that the delivery guys damaged in transit (this is not the damaged one photographed here). Finally I get to enjoy the present I gave myself!

My Old "Hi-Def" Toshiba TV
No one believes that I been solely using this TV for the last 3 years. It is a 14 inch widescreen tube HD TV (480i). The Sprite can is in this picture to give size reference.

My New TV DOA!
So I waited 3 years to buy a TV to replace my crappy 14 inch tube TV. When I finally pulled the trigger on this new Samsung LN46A650, the delivery guys damage it in transit! At least it was exchanged for a new one a week later by the vendor.

Killer Balloons!
Man, I haven't seen these since I was little, back in the 80's, and even then it was freaking dangerous! Look at all the warnings! I remember the fumes would make you dizzy it was some really nasty stuff. You really want your kids to play with flammable fume producing toys in their mouth?! They still sell this stuff?! Unbelievable!
